[EN] Your Business Registration Number (BRN) is the unique ID that SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) assigns to your business when you register it. Think of it as your business's IC number.

Is "Company Registration Number" the same thing? | Adakah "Nombor Pendaftaran Syarikat" sama?

[EN] Yes — for most purposes it's the same number. SSM uses one 12-digit format for everyone, whether you run a company (Sdn Bhd) or a registered business/enterprise (sole proprietor, partnership). You might see it called your BRN, Company Registration Number, or SSM Number — they all refer to the same 12-digit number. Just enter it exactly as it appears on your SSM record.

  1. Check your latest SSM documents — the new number is usually printed alongside the old one.

  2. Or look it up online for free:

    Search your business name; the result shows both your old and new registration numbers.

Copy the 12-digit number exactly as shown, with no spaces or dashes.

[EN] Since 11 October 2019, SSM issues BRNs in a 12-digit format (e.g. 199001009294). If your business was registered before that date, you also have an older-style number (e.g. 200866-V or 123456-A). For your application, please enter the 12-digit number, not the old one.

How to tell them apart:

  • New format → 12 digits, no letters (e.g. 202301012345)

  • Old format → shorter, usually ends with a letter (e.g. 200866-V)

[BM] Sejak 11 Oktober 2019, SSM mengeluarkan BRN dalam format 12 digit (contoh: 199001009294). Jika perniagaan anda didaftarkan sebelum tarikh tersebut, anda juga mempunyai nombor format lama (contoh: 200866-V atau 123456-A). Untuk permohonan anda, sila masukkan nombor 12 digit, bukan yang lama.

Cara membezakannya:

  • Format baharu → 12 digit, tiada huruf (contoh: 202301012345)

  • Format lama → lebih pendek, biasanya berakhir dengan huruf (contoh: 200866-V)
