What is Shane?

Shane is Funding Societies' AI assistant for Hire Purchase dealers. From 1 October 2026, you can handle your cases by chatting with Shane on WhatsApp, on the same number that sends your case updates. Shane replies 24/7, including weekends and public holidays.

You don't need an app or login. Just message the number.

Who can use Shane

Anyone can ask Shane general questions about Hire Purchase. Case details and case actions are only available to phone numbers registered with Funding Societies. Your company has two types of registered number:

Your main number is set up when your company is onboarded. To give more staff access, ask your account manager to add their numbers as authorised numbers. Automated updates and the daily summary go only to the main number, so share them with your team as needed.

If you message from a number that isn't registered, Shane can still answer general questions, but it won't share any case or hirer details.

Before you start: your HP Case ID

Every case has an HP Case ID: the hirer's last 4-digit number NRIC followed by the vehicle registration number, for example 1234-WKJ4012.

You'll find it in:

  • the Submission Received message sent to your main number when you submit a case

  • the daily summary messages

  • any case update from Shane

Include the Case ID whenever you ask Shane about a case, so Shane pulls up the right one.

What you can do with Shane

1. Check case status

Send the Case ID, e.g. "Status for 1234-WKJ4012". Shane replies with the current stage.

Stage you'll see

What it means

Submission received

We have your application and it's with our credit team

Documents required

We need more documents before we can continue

Conditionally approved

Approved subject to conditions. Waiting for your acceptance or decline

Final approval terms

Final amount, tenure and conditions are ready. Waiting for your acceptance

2. Accept or decline a conditional approval

Shane shows the approved amount, tenure, interest rate and conditions. Reply to accept or decline. If the hirer wants to change the vehicle, contact your account manager.

3. Accept final approval terms

Check the final terms, including any insurance and HP conditions, and confirm with Shane. The case then moves to signing.

4. Submit pending documents

Shane tells you which documents are missing for that case and sends you a form to upload them.

5. Share signing slots

Once the terms are accepted, Shane asks for 3 preferred dates and times for signing, starting from the next working day. Your account manager checks availability and confirms one slot with you. Your slot is not booked until it's confirmed.

6. Ask general questions

Shane can answer general questions about Hire Purchase, such as fees, tenure, insurance and next steps. For anything about a specific case, include the Case ID.

Daily summary at 9 AM

Every day at 9 AM, including weekends, Shane sends your main number up to three messages, one for each type of case waiting on you:

  • Conditionally approved: waiting for you to accept or decline

  • Final approval: waiting for you to accept the terms

  • Documents required: waiting for your documents

Each message lists up to 5 of your latest cases with the Case ID, hirer name, amount and tenure. Two buttons appear below the list:

  • Review applications: tap, send Shane the Case ID, and act on that case

  • View all applications: see every case in that stage

If no cases are waiting on you, you won't get a message.

Talking to a person

Type "speak to a person" at any time and our team will reply during working hours. You can also keep using your WhatsApp group with your account manager.

Tips

  • Use one Case ID per message.

  • Type in English or Bahasa Malaysia.

  • If Shane gets something wrong, reply "speak to a person" and our team will fix it.
